This beefy leather passport case is made for tough use and hard travel. Each case is handcrafted and made to order from rigid, full grain, vegetable tanned leather. It starts out firm & stiff but with use, will gradually soften and mold to the contents. Fits USA passport on the right and folded money/misc. on the left. There are also two pockets for a stack of cards & ID.
Before I make these cases, the leather is a pale, light beige color showing its raw, organic tone. After cutting it from the hide, I use oils that add color to the leather. This gives the case earthy, warm undertones which will darken considerably with time & use. "PASSPORT" is hand stamped onto the front of the case.
Hand-cut, hand-punched holes and hand-sewn, whipstitch style, with waxed thread.
Vegetable tanning is the lengthy process of treating hides with plant & tree bark tannins to produce leather. "Veg tanning" is one of the oldest methods of tanning around. The result is a leather with a distinctive look and feel that ages beautifully.
