Back from the past! That's what I hear a lot when selling these in person at the farmers markets. Leather Hair Sticks can be used in place of barrettes or hair ties. The leather part measures 1-1/2" x 4" and the wooden sticks are 5-1/2" long.
To use: 1) gather a section of hair and twist it into a small bun or "twisted section" at the back of the head. 2) Place the leather over the twist or bun. 3) Slide the stick into the first hole, behind the bun, and out the other hole. Well Done!
Each Leather Hair Stick is handcrafted and made to order. Available in four designs:
A & B are made from thick, rigid vegetable tanned leather. First I cut the leather to size, then I stamp the design with my small leather stamping tools. I dye the edges next, oil the top, then add a sealant. This option is a natural tan color and will gradually darken with time & use.
C & D are made from Brushed Brown leather. With these, I put my wood burning tools to work. I burn the edges first, then the main design. The backside of each leather hair stick has my maker mark burned on: Awl Made Here.
